>> Beer-league rock n' roll kingpins The Hold Steady have launched a new site to promote its forthcoming set Boys And Girls In America here [note the clever URL/link via The Stranger]. The site lets fans upload and view submitted MP4 videos and interact on a message board. If that doesn't peg what the kids are up to these days, then we don't know what does. Seriously, we don't -- we're old. Boys And Girls In America streets Oct. 3 on Vagrant.
>> Internet radio outfit WOXY.com will go dark Sept. 15, according to a post at its web site here. The two-year-old audio streamer cited high operating expenses and insufficient ad and membership revenues for financial woes that will cause the site to cease operations. WOXY had sought a buyer but that search has proven unsuccessful to date, and its management has stopped accepting advertising, memberships and donations.
>> This one's a bit stale but worth reading: according to a MySpace bulletin from an upstanding hepcat named Ben you may know if you live in the Boston area, tons of gear was stolen from indie rock legends Dinosaur Jr. last Tuesday. Among the pilfered gear is half a dozen or so guitars, including several Jazzmasters from the late '50s and early '60s that likely cannot be replaced, but given their age and appearance might be easily identified. There's a full run-down of the gear here, and a phone number to hit if you see anyone trying to move the stuff. If that link doesn't work, read the deal over at the Dino site here.
